Going To College in California

California is famous for its excellent institutes of higher education. There is a great choice of higher educational establishments such as community colleges and prestigious universities.

 Before entering a community college it is necessary to have high school diploma or a General Equivalency Diploma (GED).  In order to attend one of California’s universities, a person has to complete a set of requirements before graduating high school. Any student, who wants to enter the University of California or the California State University, must pass the following courses: English, mathematics, social science and history.  Students wishing to enter UC have to take and pass two years of Science including labs. Moreover, students must take and pass two years of Physical Education and one year of an accepted optional. As for the optional subjects, the students can choose any they like.

The prices for tuition of the colleges and universities vary.  In order to find out how much it will cost to be present at school in California, the student can visit the school’s website. It should be mentioned that the tuition is not the only expense in the college. There are also a lot of expenses for books, meals, housing and transportation. If cost is an issue, the student can be entitled to a scholarship, grant or financial aid.  High school guidance counselor or the school’s admissions office must have information regarding which financial aid package is best for the students. They are able to advice the best variant.  If the decision of attending the college is made, the first visit should be to the guidance counselor’s office. There students can get all the necessary information about college, assessment tests and dates of the applying documents and offer the proper paperwork.

Attending school in California is an amazing objective. Before entering this college or university the person should consider all the requirements very attentively.
