Characteristic of University Degrees

             Master degree is the university degree which lasts usually 2 years and concentrates on the one specialized field. The student can choose one of the fields he was interested in during the studying on the bachelor’s degree. But some students change the direction of the studying after couple years of practical experience. The master’s degree gives the student many benefits such as advancement of the career, expansion of the mental outlook and competitiveness on the labour market. 

            Doctorate degree and Philosophy Doctorate prepare students for academic career. It means the graduates with such degree can work as the professional researchers and university professors. 

           The main characteristic of these professions is that much time must be devoted to the researches and publications of the scientific articles. The doctorate and PhD degree lasts from 4 to 7 years. First two of three years students attend classes and during following years they prepare the dissertation. The application requirements for these degrees are the possessing of bachelor’s degree and the passing of the entrance exam.

There are also some admission requirements for the university degrees. For bachelor’s degree the main requirement is the certificate of high school. Those entrants who are from other countries must also pass the TOEFL exam (Test of English as Foreign Language). 

            To obtain the master’s degree the candidates must have bachelor’s degree. TOEFL is also essential for international students. Besides, to receive the MBA degree the entrants have to pass the GRE or GMAT exam. 

            For PhD and Doctorate degree the candidates must possess bachelor’s degree and work experience is desirable. The GRE or GMAT exams are required also. 

In different universities there are some peculiar requirements for entrance, so it is very important to check beforehand all conditions. Such information can be received on the websites of colleges and universities and in special admission offices.
