I am Debbie Ross. The information which is presented below can help the entrants and their parents to make the right choice and to find the most appropriate college. Several years ago I was in the same situation and thought how I can change my life. It was quite hard to find a good college which will suit all my needs and requirements. The majority of my friends had already made the choice in contrast to me. My parents tried to help me with the search, but the deadlines approached. I coped with this task and main steps on the path to the college are described below.

1. The first step is to determinate with the career goals and choose the future major. For it the person has to understand what he likes and what not. I did not want to be a doctor, lawyer and dentist. I also exclude the engineering and architect major. After long period of deciding I chose four main directions – journalism, communications, information technologies and business management.

In majority of schools the entrants can consult with the school counselor concerning the major determination. It is very useful to pass the Career Assessment Test. It test helps the student to understand their strong sides and talents. After this test I understood that the best choice for me is business administration.

2. The next step is to match the courses with the colleges. First of all I formed a list of colleges which offer the course of Business Administration and have good reputation in the academic world. There are many services which can simplify the search. I used the Fiske Guide to Colleges. Finally, I had a list of 20 accredited colleges with good reputation. I narrowed the list of colleges to 14 by choosing those educational institutions which are located near big cities.
