Adams State College is a small state-supported college of liberal arts, which is located in Alamosa, Colorado, U.S. It was established in 1921 as a teacher’s college; however, nowadays, it offers a great number of different degrees and different fields.
The campus of the college is not very large, somewhere about 90 acres in its size. The main building of the college administration is situated in Richardson Hall; the name is given in the honor of the first president of Adams State College, Dr. Ira Richardson. Richardson Hall also includes all the facilities for the music department, newly constructed theatre building, and art department.
The William Porter Math and Science Hall is named after the alumni William Porter, a creator of the E-trade.
Within the walls of Adams State College one can also two gyms, five on campuses apartments, three traditional dorm complexes.
Athletics is a well-developed field as well. “Grizzlies” is a college sport team, which is considered to be quite famous. They are rather competitive participants of NCAA’s Division II, and Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. American Samoa Community College (ASCC) is considered to be a two-year college of WASC college, which stands for Western Association of Schools and Colleges. It is located in the village of Mapusaga, within the island of Tutuila in the American Samoa, which is considered to be unincorporated and unorganized territory of the United States of America.
The College was founded in 1970. It was established as the part of the American Samoa Department of Education. The aim of it was as follows: to provide the residents with the post-secondary education in the fields of liberal arts and teaches training, general education and vocational-technical education.
The first class has only 131 students; however, the amount of students was extended in 1974.
In 1979, a grant was awarded to American Samoa Community College by U.S. Economic Administration in order to add five buildings to the fine arts, vocational training, science, and nursing. The library was established in 2003.
American Samoa Community College offers the following degrees: Associate of Arts and Associate of Science, certificate programs in the fields of liberal arts, general education, vocational-technical education, teacher training.
In addition to it the following academic programs are presented: Art, Music and Drama; Agriculture and Life Science; College and life Planning; Business; Education, Criminal Justice, English Language Institute; Mathematics; Health and Human Services; ROTC; Physical Education, Nursing, Science, Social Studies.
